23 May 2020
Dear LALC Parents,
To say that our current pandemic has affected all our lives is an understatement. We continuously adapt and become flexible in forming the “new normal” that will guide our actions and decisions for our families and communities. As we do this, we are deeply mindful of our obligations and responsibilities in maintaining our mission to provide quality education for young children while keeping all members of our LALC community safe and protected against the spread of COVID 19 in SY 2020 – 2021.
We are releasing this update on our Learning Continuity Plan for SY 2020 – 2021 in order to reassure our parents about our learning processes and to provide guidance about the incoming school year. Please note that all announcements contained in this memorandum supersedes all previous advisories.
FLExO: Fun Learning Experience Online
Because of our commitment to keep everyone safe and yet continue our service of providing education and connection for our learners, the LALC was quickly able to transition to full online delivery of instruction and assessment during the end of SY 2019 – 2020. Throughout the first part of the Enhanced Community Quarantine, and during its extensions, your LALC teachers have been conducting daily online classes for young learners.
Our early adoption of online modes of learning using Zoom meetings and Google Classroom have provided your children’s teachers with an invaluable head-start in conducting and managing classes through remote learning. While most other schools and centers are scrambling to learn how to do online learning, we are confident to say that we have all the necessary experience, tools and skills to sustain and deliver online learning throughout the school year.
We are thus introducing FLExO, the LALC’s Fun Learning Experience Online. Much like how our face-to-face curriculum focuses on educating our pupils through a multitude of activities, exercises and games, the FLExO program delivers a faithful learning experience for your children by continuously engaging their Multiple Intelligences.
We shall start with our FLExO program for all our levels on July 27, 2020, and we will have full online classes AT LEAST until the end of the first trimester. While we are hopeful that we can transition to Blended Learning by the second trimester of the school year, we are adopting an abundance of caution regarding this decision. We can not and will not risk the health and safety of our pupils and their families, and our teachers and their families, by announcing an early resumption of face-to-face classes, even if it is allowed by the national government. If we do transition to Blended Learning, it will only happen after the end of each trimester, which shall follow this schedule:
To reiterate, we shall conduct full online classes using the LALC FLExO platform until further notice. Please refer to the attachment below for more details about FLExO and its important points.
On Tuition and Fees
We wish to reassure our parents that we shall not apply any surcharges for tuition fee payments that were due from February to April 2020, but we would certainly appreciate prompt settlement of any outstanding balances your child may have for SY 2019 – 2020.
We are also announcing that we shall have a uniform tuition and matriculation fee for our online classes for all our Centers, and that this rate is significantly lower than our regular preschool tuition fees. This takes into consideration that the bulk of the tuition fees that we charge goes to the operational expenses attached to leasing our learning spaces. The fees for our FLExO classes follow in the attachment below. Some adjustments in the fees will be made should you decide to have your children participate in Blended Learning in our school campuses if and when this comes to pass, and these adjustments shall be announced prior to the resumption of face-to-face learning.
We have also reduced our miscellaneous fees in solidarity with everyone’s efforts to lessen the challenges and difficulties we are all facing at this time.
We have also instituted a weekly payment option in our FLExO program in order to give you more flexibility in managing your budgets and financial responsibilities.

You may opt to reserve a slot for your child upon your registration for the FLExO program, with the balance of the tuition payments due on or before the first day of the 1st trimester.

Pupils who have paid the full annual tuition are given one additional week for free in either our Sumer Classes or the Online School Readiness program.
Please be reminded that your child’s reservation fees are non-refundable.
Our Service Continuity Plan
We have been in constant and continuous communication with the Department of Education regarding the protocols and processes guiding the resumption of the conduct of classes for SY 2020 – 2021. We would like to give you an update on these consultations and our responses and actions based on the same.
In order to stem the spread of COVID 19, we would like to reassure everyone that the health and safety protocols that we have announced previously in our letters dated January 28 and February 4, as well as our expanded health protocols announced in our memorandum on April 29 will be adopted as soon as we resume in-campus operations. A summary of our health and safety protocols can be found at https://bit.ly/LALCHealth.
We shall be using electronic means of communication and transactions until further notice. We are currently exploring offering a payment gateway for parents to conduct their transactions and shall announce these at the soonest possible time, but you are of course still welcome to use electronic banking to facilitate your settlements, if these facilities are available to you.
While we had initially planned to be able to operate from our Centers on a daily basis, the lack of transportation options for our teachers and the risks involved in exposure make it prudent that we have in-campus operations only on selected dates, and only for limited personnel. We shall be informing you of these schedules as we approach them.
A key feature of our service continuity plan is being able to communicate with our parents and stakeholders and to provide a forum for any questions or concerns. Towards this end, I would like to invite you to participate in an online webinar on June 6, 2020 that I will conduct in order to further discuss details of our FLExO program and our plans for the school year.
Further announcements shall be coursed directly to you through our Viber Communities, and shall be posted in our website, jrodulio.
Thank you very much, dear parents, for your continued support. With your earnest participation, we are sure to be able to make everyday a Fun Learning Experience in SY 2020 – 2021.
I remain in your service,
(sgd). Teacher Noni Odulio
